Powderham Castle wedding photography by Younger

Capturing Love at Powderham Castle

As a Younger Photography owner, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless moments of love and joy. But there are some weddings that truly stand out, and my recent experience at Powderham Castle in Devon was undoubtedly one of them.

The bride and groom, a charming couple who fell in love with our natural yet artistic photography style, booked me for their September wedding.  We were blessed with a beautiful, warm autumn day, perfect for exploring the castle’s grounds and capturing the magic of their special occasion.

The day was a dream come true, with warm autumn sunshine bathing the grounds of Powderham Castle. The stunning views, coupled with the playful presence of deer, created a magical atmosphere that was simply perfect for photography. The relaxed atmosphere allowed me to capture genuine moments of love and laughter between the couple.

As the evening unfolded, the party moved to the cozy barn, where the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting.

Powderham Castle, with its majestic architecture and enchanting grounds, provides a truly picturesque setting for weddings. However, it’s the interplay of natural light and the castle’s dark interiors that truly create a magical atmosphere for photography.

The castle’s grand windows allow ample natural light to flood the rooms, casting dreamy shadows that dance across the walls and floors. These shadows, combined with the castle’s rich, dark tones, create a dramatic and timeless ambiance. The result is a series of photographs that seem to step out of a classic painting.

One of my favorite aspects of photographing at Powderham Castle is the way that the natural light changes throughout the day. The morning light is soft and diffused, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere. As the day progresses, the light becomes more intense, casting dramatic shadows that add depth and dimension to the photographs.
Whether you’re looking for a classic, timeless aesthetic or something more dramatic and modern, Powderham Castle offers a wealth of photographic opportunities.
Photographing a wedding at Powderham Castle was an absolute dream. The castle’s rich history, combined with its natural beauty, created a magical atmosphere that was impossible not to capture. I’m already looking forward to the opportunity to return and document more love stories at this enchanting location.
A big shout out to all the suppliers who were involved in making this amazing day possible.
