An interview with Regan Bush, a wedding manager at Pentillie Castle & Estate, one of the most beautiful wedding venues in South West.
What makes the perfect wedding venue in your opinion?
There are many amazing and wonderful wedding venues out there that offer a huge range of choice in terms of style, setting, capacity, catering etc. What is perfect for one couple may not be perfect for another. If you have a vision in your head, have a list of what is important to you and you then find somewhere that you can picture yourself getting married then that is ‘perfect’ for you.
A perfect wedding venue offers the setting, style and approach that suits that specific client. If you are looking for magical exclusive country house venue that offers a completely bespoke and personal approach to each wedding then Pentillie would be perfect for you.
A perfect venue will ensure couples feel completely in control of their wedding, ensure they feel that their day matters to the venue as much as it matters to them and they will trust that everything they ever dreamed their wedding celebration to be will actually happen.
How long Pentillie Castle has been a wedding venue?
Pentillie has been an exclusive hire wedding venue for 11 years now. Following an extensive renovation in 2009 the Castle is now a multi award winning 5 star private events venue.
How many can Pentillie Castle cater for?
As Pentillie is only available on an exclusive hire basis you have the space and flexibility to create the wedding you want. Pentillie offers both space for an intimate gathering or a large marquee celebration. The Castle itself offers seating for up to 60 in the elegant dining room with room for an additional 40 in the evening. Larger parties require a marquee on the Castle Loggia or Old Tennis Lawn.
The Castle accommodates 22 in 11 individually styled bedrooms all offering spectacular views.
What do couples need to know before booking a wedding venue?
It all depends what sort of couple you are…some know exactly what they are after so its fairly easy to draw up a simple short (or long) list of venues. Some have no idea and love the idea of spending hours trawling the internet for ideas and inspiration, for some this fills them with dread.
My advice would be to visit for few venues no matter how much you think you know what you want. Venues today vary so much in terms of offering, service level and how flexible they are to accommodate your requirements. You may find you end up falling in love with something completely opposite to your initial plan.

What are your Top-Tips for a couple looking to book a wedding venue?
The biggest tip – at the beginning close your eyes and imagine yourself on your wedding day. Don’t ever forget this image in your mind as it’s so easy to forget what the most important things are to you when you’re on the planning journey. There’s so much choice!
And….
If you aren’t investing in a videographer ask a friend to video your ceremony… I didn’t remember a thing about mine as I was so ‘in the moment’. To be able to watch it afterwards allows you to relive it over and over again and appreciate the reason you choose your venue in the very first place ????
